Bring Attendance Capture into the School’s Daily Flow
Manual registers and individual scanning points require a separate attendance step. Camera-based recognition offers another approach: identifying enrolled users within a configured camera view and connecting qualifying events with their attendance records.
The AI IP Camera Attendance module in Akadvia ERP supports this contactless workflow. Existing cameras may be reusable where their streaming capabilities, positioning, and image quality meet the installation requirements.
From Camera Stream to Attendance Record
Several stages connect a camera observation with a recorded attendance event.
- Receive the Video Stream: A compatible IP camera supplies video through the supported streaming setup.
- Detect a Face: The processing service identifies a face in the frame and generates a numerical representation for comparison.
- Compare Enrolled Profiles: The system checks the detected face against registered profiles to find a qualifying match.
- Apply Anti-Spoofing Checks: A dedicated model evaluates whether the input appears to be a live face or a presentation such as a photograph.
- Capture an Event Snapshot: A marked image provides a visual reference for reviewing the detection.
- Process Attendance: Qualifying events reach the attendance workflow, with a cooldown to limit repeated marking for the same person.
This sequence helps connect recognition events with school records while keeping relevant information available for review.
Add an Anti-Spoofing Check to Recognition
Matching a face and checking whether it is being presented live are different tasks. The module uses MiniFASNet-based anti-spoofing checks to help identify presentations involving printed photographs or images displayed on screens.
These checks provide an additional assessment before attendance is recorded. They should not be treated as a guarantee that every spoof attempt will be detected or every live person accepted.
Review the configured setup under the conditions in which the school will actually use it.
Choose Attendance or Monitoring Mode
The module provides two operating modes for different purposes.
- Attendance Mode: Processes recognised, enrolled users for the configured check-in and check-out workflow.
- Monitoring Mode: Records face-detection events, including unmatched faces, for authorised review.
An unmatched face means the system did not associate the observation with an enrolled profile. It does not, by itself, establish that someone is an intruder or acting improperly.
Assess Your Existing Camera Setup
Reusing suitable equipment can reduce the need for separate attendance terminals. However, an existing CCTV installation does not automatically mean the system requires no additional hardware or operating expense.
Before deployment, review:
- Camera Compatibility: Confirm that the required video stream is available.
- Placement and Visibility: Check whether faces are captured clearly at the intended attendance point.
- Processing Capacity: Establish the server resources needed for the planned camera coverage.
- Network Availability: Confirm that streams can reach the processing service consistently.
- Operating Costs: Include installation, maintenance, processing, storage, and support in the estimate.
A site-specific assessment provides a more useful budget than a fixed savings percentage.
Keep Processing Services Manageable
The supplied architecture includes controls for maintaining camera-processing services during routine operation.
- Reconnection Attempts: Retry interrupted streams using increasing intervals.
- Worker Cleanup: Identify and clear inactive processing workers.
- Configuration Updates: Apply supported duty-mode changes without a full service restart.
- Controlled Shutdown: Stop workers cleanly when the service receives a shutdown instruction.
These controls support service management, while actual availability still depends on the complete installation.
💡 Start with one attendance point. Review successful matches, missed detections, and incorrect matches before expanding camera coverage.
With Akadvia ERP, schools can introduce camera-based attendance through a measured rollout that connects recognition, event review, and daily attendance administration.
